DAY 4 TO 6 GRINDELWALD TO GRIESALP Day 4: Grindelwald to Schreckhorn Hut (2520m) and back. distance 17kms, time 8 hours "After torrential overnight rain, a glorious day, incredible views of the Grindelwaldgletscher and East ridge of the Eiger. The path climbed steadily, in places ladders and fixed rope and after climbing glacial moraines, the hut came into view." Day 5: Grindelwald to Lauterbrunnen via Wengen. distance 16kms, time 8 hours "Another glorious day, at Alpiglen the Eigers North Face towered overhead. Looking back from Kleine Schedeigg the view was even more impressive. Took the path towards Wengenalp (Jungfraujoch above) and from Wengen the train to Lauterbrunnen." |

Day 6: Lauterbrunnen to Griesalp via Sefinenfurke (2612m).
distance 21kms, time 8 hours "Another long day, after Rostockhutte the path climbed steadily towards the Sefinenfurke pass and steepened towards the top. Behind the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau, nearby Gspaltinhorn (3436m). The way down was very steep, in places step ladders and chains. Tomorrows pass - Hohturli - the highest pass crossed on the trek looked 'one hell of a climb'. Booked myself in at the Berghaus Golderli (50 Francs a night)." |
