DAY 10 TO 12
LENK TO MONTREUX

Day 10:
Lenk to Gsteig.
distance 22kms, time 8 hours

"Took the cable car to Betelberg and then through limestone pits to Truttlisberg Pass. It was then through meadow and woodland to the beautiful village of Lauenen. As I headed towards Krinnen Pass, I was feeling very tired."

Day 11: Gsteig to Col des Mosses
distance 23kms, time 7 hours

"A very cold night, packed my tent early and headed towards Les Diablerets. By lunchtime the weather had changed, from La Marneche I walked the belvedere path in persistent drizzle and near Col des Mosses the rain was torrential. Tourist Office found me accomodation at Hotel Restaurant des Fontaines."

Day 12: Col des Mosses to Montreux via Col de Chaude (1621m).
distance 28kms, time 9 hours

"A long grey day. Took the bus to La Lecherette, and walked past an army base and up a military road. I was brought to a halt at a checkpoint and a friendly soldier informed me 'were playing wargames'. I replied 'you've never been at war'. He laughed and said 'we have to protect our banks!' Had to retrace my steps and then walked pass a reservoir and up a muddy track to the Col de Chaude. Through the mist, Lake Geneva could be seen below. I lifted my arms in celebration, it was now all downhill to Montreux."
