DAY 1 TO 3 ARGENTIERE TO CHAMPEX Day 1: Argentiere to Le Peuty bivouac (Trient) via Col de Balme. distance 12kms, time 6 hours "From the Col de Balme it was a long descent, got a few blisters, so I changed into trainers for the final 400 metres into Trient. Nearby at Le Peuty was an excellent bivouac site with nearby toilets and running water". Day 2: Trient to Champex campsite via Fenetre d'Arpette (2665m). distance 14kms, time 8 hours "Headed towards Glacier du Trient and then veered left climbing steadily towards the Fenetre d'Arpette. The climb was strenous, rucksack heavy, but the sky was clear and you could see for miles". |

Day 3: Champex to Cabane du Trient (3170m) and back.
distance 14kms, time 7 hours "Another dry day, decided to walk upto Cabane d'Orny (2811m), views magnificient. After reaching the hut I could see a path heading up the glacier to Cabane du Trient, so I gave it a go. After an hours snow plod and a scramble up some rocks arrived. Fantastic scenery looking towards Aiguille Dorees and Aiguille du Tour. The Haute route from Refuge Albert could clearly be seen. From here it was all down 3170 metres to 1498 metres in 3 hours. Arrived back to find the Sherpa Van trekking company had taken up most of the campsite". |
