Caught the train to Le Chable and climbed upto Cabane Mont Fort, via Verbier. From the hut a magnificient panorama of Dents d'Midi, Grand Jorasses and Grand Combin". Day 5: Cabane Mont Fort to Cabane Prafleuri via Grand Desert. distance 13kms, time 9 hours "Left the hut at 7, three cols to cross. At Col Termin, ibex and chamois grazing, Mont Blanc appearing far to the west. Reached Col de Louvie (2965 metres) by lunchtime and then crossed the Grand Desert glacier. Finally the climb up the Col de Prafleuri (2987 metres)." After lunch, the crossing of Glacier de Chelion glacial moraines took some time, then up the ladders of Pas de Chevres.
