Accomodation: I used a variety of campsites, mountain
huts, cheap hotels and Youth Hostels along the route.
All campsites were good with showers and hot water,
especially recommended Evolene campsite at 8 SFr 50
per night. Champex campsite was expensive (17 SFr 50!).
Mountain huts are basically dormitory accomodation
with basic meals and drinks. Costs ranged from
Cabane Prafleuri (stage 6/7) 45 Swiss Francs, to
Cabane Mont Fort (stage 5/6) 58 Swiss Francs.
Hotels used on the route included Auberge Alpina (Zinal)
only 40 SFr and Hotel Schwarzhorn(Gruben Meiden)
(dormitory plus meals) 55 SFr.
Plus I used Zermatt Youth Hostel (very busy)
which was 39 SFr a night, but included all meals

Transport Options: All valleys have regular Postbus services, plus there are various cable cars and gondola's
to ease those uphill/downhill battles. These include:
Le Tour to Col de Balme (stage 2),
Le Chable to Verbier (stage 5),
Col de Sorebois to Zinal (stage 10).
If you don't want to walk the last flat stage take
the Glacier Express train from St. Niklaus to Zermatt.
