DAY 3 TO 4
FINSTERAARHORN HUT.

Day 3:
Finsteraarhorn Hut to Wyssnollen(3590m) and Return.
ascent 3048m to 3590m, 7.5 hrs.

"Our objective Wyssnollen - a white peak immediately ahead of the hut across Fischergletscher.
The climb itself was long and not helped by recent snowfall which made the going very heavy and hid crevasses.
Halfway to the summit Bill found a crevasse and had to be pulled out. As the summit was reached, dark clouds were rolling in from the south. Retraced our steps down and across the glacier.

Day 4: Finsteraarhorn Hut to Finsteraarhorn Summit and Back.
ascent 3048m to 4274m, 12 hrs.

"Left the hut at 4.45am, walked up a rocky saddle in the dark and then continued over the glacier to a rocky spur (Fruhstuckplatz 3616m). The pace was slow as Dave was feeling sick. Continued up the South West flank of the mountain eventually reaching Hugisattel (4088m).
The final 200 metres was a rock and ice scramble via the North West ridge. A few places we had to belay and awesome vertical drops either side of the ridge. Although the summit was in sunshine the surrounding valleys were filled with cloud. The descent took 5 hours, as the snow was now slushy and numerous crevasses.
