Risoul/Serre Chevalier
My second holiday of the year, destination: French Alps Queyras region.
The journey seemed to take forever, and we finally arrived late Saturday afternoon
at L'Argentiere La Besse. It was half-term holiday and the Hotel La Gare could only take us for 2 nights.
The first three days the weather was not good for ski mountaineering , low clouds, snow and risk of avalanches.
So had fun in the trees at Risoul and Serre Chevalier before heading off to the Queyras and Saint Veran.
A small resort but with lots of off-piste potential, Saint Veran was a bit of a jewel.

Next day sunny weather, skinned up to Refuge Agnel and a hearty meal.
The guardian recommended the tour around Crete L'Eychassier via Col Vieux (2806m),
Lac Foreant and Col de L'Eychassier (2917m).
So the following morning we split our snowboards and set off for Col Vieux.
The day started off bright and sunny, but gradually turned cloudy (Pain de Sucre peering out of the mist)
and by the last col it was snowing. Surfed down to the hut.
The next day was the same, so we skinned up to Col Agnel before boarding back down the road.
Final day was at Meribel and Les Menuires. But that's another story.
