DRESDNER TO FRANZ SENN

Day 6:
Dresdner (2308m) to Neue Regensberger Hut (2286m).
distance 11kms, time 7 hours

"A long day ahead, almost took a wrong turning after leaving the hut, bulldosed pistes all look very familiar. After Wilde Grube, the path contoured along the mountainside, passing under the Mutterberger See and ascending the southern flank of the Ruderhofspitze. Stopped for lunch near Schafspitzl (2760m). Soon reached the Grabagrubenneider (the highest col on the route at 2888m) and then scrambled down on loose rock and scree unto the Hochmoos glacier (or what was left of it!)."

Neue Regensberger Hut and Habicht

Day 7: Neue Regensberger (2286m) to Franz Senn Hut via Basslerjoch (2830m).
distance 7kms, time 5 hours

"Regensberger was a popular hut and I had a restless night. Most of the people in the dormitory were middle aged Austrians who liked a drink or two! Left after 8 and ascended towards Scrimmenneider (2714m). At the col I climbed the nearby mountain of Basslerjoch (2830m) and the views back were magnificient - Habicht, Feuerstein, Wilder Freiger and the mountains of South Tirol in the far distance."
