SNOWBOARDING MTN. BIKING TREKKING CLIMBING OUTDOOR GEAR TRAVEL/AIRLINES SOCCER/SPORTS MUSIC/FILMS BOOKS/CDS |
HELLO AND WELCOME to My Trekking Pages. I enjoy walking in the Alps, especially in September when the paths are quiet and the weather fairly stable. Anything from one-day rambles (Grindelwald to Schreckhorn Hut) to long multi-day treks that traverse whole regions including the Walkers Haute Route (Chamonix to Zermatt) and recently the Bernese Oberland Haute Route (Grimsel Pass to Fafleralp via Finsteraarhorn). Use the menu on the right to navigate between pages. |

THE TREKS I have completed include Walkers Haute Route (Chamonix to Zermatt), the Alpine Pass Route (Altdorf to Montreux), Tour de la Vanoise (GR55) and recently the Austrian Stubai Rucksack Route. Plus I have enjoyed numerous one day walks around Chamonix, Grindelwald, Kandersteg, Arolla/Evolene and Zermatt. I have camped, stayed in huts, youth hostels and matratzenlagers (gites d'etape) and have experienced mainly good weather, although you must be prepared to write-off days and wait until settled conditions appear. Waymarking is very good, with both signposts and flashes of paint on rocks for most mountain paths (bergweg or chemin de montagne). |
